POSITION PROPERTIES

Position Title

Custodial Services - Warehouse (Temporary), Summer 2024

 

Position Summary:

The Facilities and Construction Services department is seeking to fill temporary warehouse positions. The hours of this position are Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM, with 30Minutes for Lunch. 

 

Qualifications:

Physical Expectations: Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head, reach forward and use hand strength to grasp tools and equipment. The employee will frequently bend, twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more including cleaning supplies, pails, and bag/boxes. Occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 80 pounds, including furniture and equipment. The employee will sometimes push or pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines, etc. This job requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must also frequently negotiate stairs, and/or ladders and stepladders to a height of 8-12 feet. The employee must be able to convey and/or receive oral and written instructions.

 

Terms of Employment:

Temporary (May-August), full-time or part-time

Salary: $15.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

All employees:

  • Must be available most days (Monday-Friday) from May through mid-August.
  • Must have transportation to and from work site; valid Missouri driver’s license is preferred.
  • Must be punctual and have regular attendance.
  • Must understand and adhere to all policy and procedures applicable to the position and to the CPS Board of Education Regulations.

 

Warehouse

  • Interact with staff and students in a courteous and cooperative manner
  • Lift and move heavy objects between 50-100 pounds
  • Complete physical labor tasks including the moving furniture
  • Deliver freight and supplies to all buildings; run errands between buildings
  • Assist with inventory control
  • Clean and arrange the warehouse
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Abilities:  An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

Language

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals 
  • Write routine reports and memos
  • Respond to requests from staff members

Computation

  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of American money, weight, volume and distance.
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Reasoning

  • Solve practical problems
  • Interpret instructions given orally, in writing by diagram or form

Technology

  • Perform basic computer-related tasks; understand computer-based maintenance schedules and requests

  • The employee is frequently required to reach, climb, bend, squat, stoop and kneel.
  • The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.  Occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 90 pounds.  The employees will frequently push or pull items such as tables, scaffolds and air compressors.
  • Specific vision requirements include close and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position

Conditions and Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors.  The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment.  The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee will frequently work alone and will occasionally work irregular or extended hours. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate but can occasionally be loud.
