PURPOSE
This position will assist the professional Media Specialists with the operation of the circulation desk including daily scheduling, and assisting students and staff. Other duties will include general clerical tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the media center.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Actively assisting students and faculty in library/computer related questions.
- Supervising students as they enter/exit the Media Center (sign-in).
- Managing the circulation system; checking in/out materials; entering/updating records onto catalog.
- Processing books and materials, magazines and newspaper.
- Shelving materials and assisting with building and supply inventory.
- Assisting the Media Specialist in coordinating volunteers and supervising student workers.
- Running overdue material reports and monthly/yearend reports.
- Answering phones and/or forwarding calls/take messages.
- Assisting with the scheduling of the Media Center.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of the Columbia Public School District.

Reports To: Building Administration and Media Specialist (s)

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: High school diploma. Microsoft Office proficient. Accurate and detail-oriented.
Preferred: Clerical experience is desired. Prior use of office equipment is preferred.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position an employee is regularly required to speak and hear in a library environment, move around the library, read handwritten or printed material, shelve materials, and locate books and other materials in the media center.
