PURPOSE

The Home Grown Intern Position’s purpose is to expose students to the field of education by allowing students  to intern within the classroom. Interns provide support with students in academic activities, classroom supervision and participate in lesson plans. This is a summer - only internship. The expectation is that you do not miss any days during summer school. Must be available to work starting, but not limited to, May 30th - June 26th.

  

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Performs other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum:Students between the ages of 14-17 attending school within Columbia Public Schools. Students should have an attendance rate of more than 90%, a 2.5 GPA and minimal to no office referrals within the 2023-24 school year.

Ideal candidate: Students who are between the ages of 14-17 (8th grade-11th grade) who are interested in becoming educators. Students between the ages of 14-17 attending school within Columbia Public Schools. Students should have an attendance rate of more than 90%, a 2.5 GPA and minimal to no office referrals within the 2023-24 school year.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to move about, talk, and hear; Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required. These are essential functions of the job.
