PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this position is to screen and provide appropriate access to high-school campus buildings.  Individuals will be responsible for supporting safety and security of students and staff within each building.  This position will greet visitors upon arrival, supervise in hallways, lunchroom, and various other campus locations.  The Aide will help support safety and security throughout the building by allowing and monitoring visitors to the building and controlling access points. This position will also help assist in managing/monitoring behaviors in the common areas. This position is a district wide position and may be required at other locations.

Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

Reports To:  Director of Safety and Security

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum:  Highschool Diploma or equivalent; Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is required; Ability to walk long distances; Ability to watch video camera footage for long periods of time; Positive and appropriate communication skills.

 

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree; Prior experience with security camera and entry systems.

Technology:  Perform basic computer skills including word processing and data entry on district-provided technology; Ability to watch video camera footage for long periods of time. These are essential functions of the job.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:  Establish and maintain positive relationships with others while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries; Demonstrate excellent oral, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; Demonstrate excellent listening skills. Physical Demands:  Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously; Move around the building to interact with and manage students/groups of students/visitors; Read handwritten or printed material; Ability to walk long distances; Ability to watch video camera footage for long periods of time; Ability to run short or long distances and be able to respond quickly in physically demanding situations. Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
