PURPOSE
This position will assist with maintaining the boys' basketball program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assist with maintaining the basketball program.
- Maintaining positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
- Assist with coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
- Encouraging good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
- Collaborating with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes.
- Ensuring compliance with MSHAA.
- Maintaining statistics on all players.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Athletic Director and Head Coach
Supervises: None
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: 60 hours of college credit is required; Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is required;
Sport First Aid Course is required.
If hired as a coach via a substitute certificate, the individual must satisfactorily complete (make a grade of 80% to pass) a MSHSAA approved coaches education program (NFICEP) before he/she can be hired for a coaching position in any subsequent year. In addition, all coaches despite certification status must attend a NFICEP first-aid class and pass the exit test given at that time.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree; Missouri teaching certificate; Prior teaching/coaching experience.

Physical Demands: Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously; Move around a classroom, gymnasium, and playing field; Read handwritten or printed material
Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position: Requires frequent evening and/or weekend work related to practice and competition; Evenings and/or weekends travel to accompany students to games and meets.
Sensory Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking.
Conditions and Environment: The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. The individual will be required to work outdoors.
