PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the overall coordination and supervision of the Missouri Options Program. This program serves students recovering academic credit by completing online course work and in the MO Option Program. Applicants should be interested in working with the at-risk population.
The Missouri Option Program offers the opportunity to earn a high school diploma for students who are at least 17 years of age, enrolled in Missouri public or charter school, and at risk of dropping out or not graduating with their cohort group. Graduation through the Missouri Option Program is not dependent on credit attainment. The Missouri Option Program is an effective program to retain students, lower drop-out rates, and improve college and career readiness.
The Missouri Option Program is competency-based and approved by the State Board of Education. The program utilizes a high school equivalency exam, currently the HiSET®, as content mastery for graduation purposes. Missouri Option students successfully passing the exam and completing all other program requirements are eligible to receive a high school diploma.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Becoming thoroughly familiar with the software program which provides the curriculum for credit recovery/MO Option preparation
- Enter students into the program so they can access the curriculum
- Record keeping, such as daily attendance and data collection
- Communicating regarding student progress to counselors, administrators, and student support coordinator
- Management of students during class periods
- Consistently enforcing lab rules and guidelines
- Individually tutoring and conferencing with students
- Lead Student Focus Team driven by School Improvement to identify students in need of Credit Recovery
- Managing the two other programs at BHS and RBHS, which will be staffed with Instructional Aides.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Valid Teaching Certificate, Strong background in computers; Ability to work with others.
Preferred: Experience with students; excellent communication skills; ability to form relationships with students.

Technology: Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use; Use district software, including smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district.
Physical Demands: Must have the ability to speak and hear in a typical school environment, which is often noisy and active; Must be able to read handwritten or printed material.
Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
